A province in central China was hit by a sudden bout of rain and snow, locally known as "peach blossom snow" or "back-to-spring cold" in spring.

The video was filmed in the city of Sanmenxia in Henan Province on March 16.

Meteorological bureaus in Lingbao and Luanchuan both issued red alerts for the snowstorm, warning that snowfall in some areas could exceed 15 millimetres and have a significant impact on transportation, agriculture, and animal husbandry.

The snowstorm has caused damage to trees and power lines with heavy snow accumulating on the latter causing some poles to collapse.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. But the loss is still being counted.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
