This is the heart-stopping moment huge glass windows were blown from their frames during a tropical storm in northeast Thailand.

Footage shows the large windows in a school classroom collapsing as heavy wind and rain battered the building Khon Kaen province on March 28.

Seconds later, a second glass window was also blown down, leaving the building's interior exposed to the gales. Terrified staff sheltered during the weather onslaught and nobody was injured.

Teacher Kittipong said workers were repairing the building today as they prepared for the oncoming typhoon season.

The Thai Meteorological Department said the southerly and southeasterly winds were prevailing over the country's central, eastern, and northeastern regions.

High temperatures with isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds are expected in northern Thailand, the agency said.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms.
