A woman was caught on camera dumping her leftover food into the pot of neighbouring customers at a self-serve restaurant in central China.

The CCTV footage was filmed in Wuhan City in Hubei Province on August 2.

The woman's audacious behaviour, followed by continuous laughter, prompted the restaurant's management to review the surveillance footage, apologise to the two affected customers, and waive their bill.

The affected customer's cousin, Ms Liu, spoke out about the incident, expressing her concern over the woman's mental state and potential diseases. She described the act as "terrifying," stating that no normal person would behave this way. She expressed hope that the woman could be found and explain her actions, followed by an apology.

In an update on August 3, a staff member of the self-serve restaurant stated that the store has contacted the police, and the manager is dealing with the matter at the police station.

They revealed that the woman has yet to be located. This is the first time the restaurant has ever experienced such an incident.

The restaurant staff explained that they generally enforce rules to prevent wastage, requiring customers to confirm no excessive waste after dining.

"Including when they left, they all looked very normal. As for what mentality the lady was acting out of, we are not clear at the moment, because we haven't contacted or found her yet. Once we find her, we will understand her motive. We have never encountered a situation like this before; this is the first time," a staff member revealed.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
