GoPro footage of flood devastation on Thirlmere, Tim Farron calls for EU cash.

With over a month of rain falling overnight, rivers, draining some of the Lake Districts highest fells, smashed though walls and dumped thousands of tons of debris onto the A591 - the main North South road in the Lake District.

The footage shows a particularly bad section of the A591 at Thirlmere in Cumbria, large chunks of the road have also been washed away,

The Environment Agency declared a new rainfall record today. 405mm of rain fell at Thirlmere in 38 hours to 0800 on 6.12.15.

Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron who also represents South Lakeland has called on the Government to apply to the EU for emergency cash from the EU solidarity fund of £367M to help re-build infrastructure & help people in Cumbria following widespread damage.
