Brave neighbours unit to save toddler in terrifying balcony dangle in China
Brave neighbours united to save a toddler in a terrifying balcony dangle in southern China.
The video was filmed in the city of Jiangmen in Guangdong Province on December 29, 2023.
A child found themselves perilously trapped, with their head stuck in the railing of a fourth-floor balcony. A courageous man from the neighbouring apartment attempted to climb through a window to reach the child, while a woman on the second floor extended a blanket from the rooftop, ready to provide a cushion in case of a fall.
Fortunately, someone managed to enter the child's room and pull them back to safety. Mrs Chen, who was seen in the video holding the blanket, shared her account of the incident. Living on the second floor, she had just returned from taking her own child to school when she heard cries echoing through the complex.
Acting swiftly, she ascended to the fourth floor but received no response when knocking on the door. Another neighbour attempted to force the door open with a wrench but was unsuccessful.
"The child was just over a year old, and I was afraid they might fall. So, I hurriedly ran downstairs, fetched a blanket from my home, and stood on the rooftop of the second floor. In case the child fell, there would be some cushioning. Fortunately, the child was rescued without harm," explained Chen.
Property management personnel from the complex expressed gratitude for the combined efforts of neighbours and the quick response that ensured the child's safety, stating, "It was thanks to the caring neighbours." The child, who was alone at home during the incident, was successfully reunited with their parents.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
