Adorable footage of a pet monkey HUGGING a stray cat after the two became inseparable best friends.

Seven-year-old macaque 'Lilly' was taken in after being attacked by wild animals and found injured in Surat Thani, Thailand. Owner Wuttichai, 27, built a home in his garden where she has lived for over a year.

In August a stray male kitten visited Lilly and the two instantly bonded. Macaques have a reputation for attacking people, but Lilly spends hours just holding the cat in her arms.

They even spend the night together sleeping together under the moonlight on her bed. Heart-warming footage shows the inseparable pair spooning and sitting together as the cat - who has no name but spends most of her time in the garden - snuggles inside Lilly's lap. Another clip shows the cat suckling on Lilly's nipples like a child.

Wuttichai said the kitten was like an adopted son. He said: ''I don't know where the cat came from but we noticed her one day with Lillly. There was no aggression, they were not angry, but just sitting next to each other gazing looking at each other. Since then the cat has kept coming back. Lilly puts her arms round her and they lay down together. They are best friends. They never fight. I've never seen anything like it before. A cat and a monkey, they are so close.Lilly was injured when we found her and we helped her to recover. I think the cat is helping her to get better, too. We have to keep her on a lead sometimes or she would be at risk of getting attacked again if she wanders away close to other wild monkeys.''
