Africa's HUGE insects - this is a giant caterpillar! Look at it go!
The Common or Cabbage Tree Emperor (Bunaea alcinoe) is a is a member of the Saturn moth family and is widely distributed in Africa. Its huge caterpillar grows to about 160 millimetres (6.3 inches) long and eats a wide range of food plants, including some species of the genera Bauhinia, Croton, Terminalia, Acacia and Cussonia. This enormous Cabbage Tree Emperor caterpillar was making its way across the paving near the shop at Crocodile Bridge Restcamp in Kruger Park.
