Building collapses on top of mother and daughter as they shop for groceries
A mother and daughter browsing in a shop in India have escaped death after the building collapsed on top of them.
CCTV footage captures the moment of collapse but the duo reportedly had a lucky escape and even went away on their own after the mishap.
The incident occurred in Jodhpur in the northwest Indian state of Rajasthan on May 22.
A three-story commercial building collapsed and a CCTV camera at the grocery store on the ground floor recorded the incident.
City officials, who launched the rescue operations, pulled out two men and a boy.
Though they feared that many more were trapped in the debris a thorough search revealed that there were no other casualties.
Officials came across the CCTV footage at the shop and feared that the mother and daughter were caught under the rubble. They extended the rescue operations but were unable to locate them.
An assistant at the shop, who can also be seen in the footage, later told them that the falling debris had missed the mother and daughter.
Local newspaper Dainik Bhaskar quoted him as saying that he saw them leaving the spot soon after the debris settled.
Owner of the building Chandra Prakash Maheshwari has filed a complaint with the police blaming construction activity in a neighbouring plot for the mishap.
