This is the terrifying moment a road rage motorbike rider is stopped by a pick-up truck driver - then hits the windscreen with a meat cleaver.

Sompon Laosing, 59, was driving home with his ten-year-old daughter in the car in Ubon Ratchathani, Thailand, on August 3, when he noticed the man riding erratically.

The father-of-two - who is also a police inspector but was off-duty - trailed behind the moped rider as he swerved erratically all over the road.

After pulling over to the side of the road, the man then walks round to the driver's side on the right of the vevicle, produced a meat cleaver from his belt and hits the side of the windscreen.

Sompon - who was carrying his police issue handgun at the time - calmly drove away and reported the incident at the nearest station.

He said: ''I had my young daughter with me and I'll be retired later this year so i didn't want any action. I think the man was drunk, that's why I followed him.

''There was a gun in my car but I kept calm and drove to the nearest station. The man caused 17,000 baht's worth of damage to the windscreen.''

Lt. Tawatchai Viriyakul, Director of Ubon Ratchathani City Police Department, said they were still hunting for the man.

He said: ''I want the suspect to surrender to the legal process. He faces a very heavy penalty.''
