This is the moment a huge python was rescued in front of amazed onlookers after it was trapped under a pile of rubbish.

The 12ft long snake slithered under the wooden pallet and became entangled in the blue netting in Phuket, southern Thailand, on September 28 at 6pm.

Stunned passer-by Carody Irish, a female Muay Thai fighter originally from Kansas in the U.S., is heard in the video saying ''that's insane, I always see it on Thai news but I didn't know it happened to us.''

Locals then spent several minutes cautiously trying to cut away the netting and free the aggressive serpent without it biting them.

Carody adds in the video: ''It's so beautiful. I've never seen anything like this in my life.''

The python was eventually released from its predicament and allowed to crawl away back into the undergrowth near the Surin Beach area at the popular tourist destination.
