This is the heartwarming moment a stranded python was rescued after being found stuck in a net in Thailand.

A passing fisherman found the 7ft-long snake tangled among the string nets in Petchabun province on December 9.

He was hoping to trap some fish in the pond, but instead, he saw a huge python that weighed more than three kilograms.

It struggled to stay afloat while trying to wriggle out of the net next to thin stems of shrubs.

Unfamiliar with handling reptiles, the fisherman called the rescue team to help the snake instead.

Anusorn Podech, 40, arrived at the scene and boarded a boat to reach the area with the net. He used a long stick to free the snake out of the net before grabbing and pulling it into the boat.

The rescue operation lasted almost half an hour before the snake was released into a nearby forest.

Anusorn said: "It's usually hard to deal with snakes on land but rescuing a snake out of water is even more difficult. The fisherman did the right thing."
