12 people trapped by gales rescued in Xinjiang
Authorities rescued 12 commuters stuck in strong gales on a highway in Xinjiang, an autonomous region in the northwest of China, during a a major dust storm on December 1.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday as local police dispatched emergency workers to the scene, the entire operation taking up to seven hours.
The massive dust storm brought the region to a standstill over the weekend. According to local media, visibility was less than two meters at the height of the storm.
