An Indian villager heard something rustling under his bed on the night of December 6 near Mayurbhanj in Odisha state, eastern India.

When he shone his mobile phone under the bed, he saw an adult king cobra hiding under his bed.

In panic, he ran out along with his family members and called a local snake expert Krushna Chandra Gochayat for help.

For Krushna and his friends, catching the deadly snake was risky as there was no light inside the house. Working with torches they stripped off the cot and found the king cobra curled up below.

Though the snake tried to flee, Krushna managed to catch it in the dark and later released it in a nearby forest in the presence of local officials.
