71 teams from 45 different campuses throughout Indonesia took part in the 2018 energy-saving car contest (KMHE). The participants tried the location of the Padang State University campus which had been transformed into a circuit. Cars that compete in the prototype and urban categories are now racing to become the cars with the most economical energy consumption level.


The 71 teams that took part included 35 teams in the prototype category, and 36 teams in the urban category. 35 teams competing in the prototype category were divided into four classes, 12 teams in the proto gasoline class, 4 teams in the proto diesel class, 3 teams in the ethanol proto class, and 16 teams in the electric proto class. While for the urban class divided into three categories, the diesel category was followed by 3 teams, and urban ethanol 5 teams, as well as the urban electricity class 12 teams. The event that aims to spur innovations from students in creating this energy-efficient car took place on 28 November to 1 December 2018 ago.
