This is a video from my dash cam showing just how effective autonomous braking is at preventing a crash. I was traveling at 75 MPH when traffic suddenly came to a crawl. As I was braking, in an attempt to avoid the vehicle in front of me, my car determined I was not using enough force to stop. It applied the brakes even harder and sounded a collision warning, which you can hear in the video. I have no doubt this technology saved me from a nasty collision that day. A Chevy Tahoe who was 3 vehicles behind me, was not as lucky and collided with another vehicle. He came to a halt in the middle of the freeway. I checked on both occupants who were not injured. The vehicle I was driving is a 2017 Toyota and it is equipped with standard automatic emergency braking.
