A grandma in south China climbed 10 floors down the side of her residential compound until she was rescued by neighbours.

Eyewitness video showed the horrifying moment when the grandmother held onto the framework of an air conditioner and climbed down while many residents on ground were watching her. It was shot in Dayi County, Sichuan Province on April 25.

The woman, estimated to be in her 80s, climbed out her window to get fresh air because she was being locked in by her family, who did so due to her Alzheimer's, according to the local reports.

The old lady's family had left with her door locked that day and didn't expect she would climb out the window.

A pensioner, who is in her 80s, had climbed out of her home on the 14th floor to the 4th floor where she was rescued by by neighbours in southern China.
