A group of residents in Sumatra, Indonesia, had a difficult time walking through a road completely submerged by floodwaters.

Footage from yesterday (April 28) shows young men struggling to cross a road as the water reaches up to their chests in Bengkulu in southwest Sumatra, which has been the hardest hit by flooding following torrential rains.

At least 31 people have died, while a dozen are still missing and thousands have been displaced.

This is a video made by Melyan Sori of Bengkulu, Indonesia that shows the situation of flood in Bengkulu, Indonesia. Mr. Sori took the video on Sunday, April 28, 2019, and shows the flood level had reached 150 cm. In several areas, the level even higher.

The area was flooded three days ago and killed at least 29 people. Besides the high intensity of rain, mining activities on the upstream area have been suspected as the caused of Bengkulu worst flood in the last 30 years.
