Residents of Lambung Bukit in West Sumatra, Indonesia, experienced panic when the river behind their homes overflowed, causing a flash flood. This incident occurred after several days of heavy rain across northern Sumatra Island. From November 24 to November 27, 2025, sustained rainfall led to flash floods and landslides in different regions, including Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra. The severe weather was exacerbated by tropical cyclone Senyar and was further worsened by deforestation in the northern Sumatra mountains, driven by industrial-scale plantations and mining.
