Tiny turtle hatchlings walk majestically into the sea in South India
Dozens of turtle hatchlings walked majestically into the sea in South India after being released on the beach by forest officials.
The scene was captured on Monday 21 February in Sirkazhi in Mayiladuthurai district of Tamil Nadu state.
The nesting of Olive Ridley turtles has begun and some have started laying their eggs on the seashore in that area.
Forest Officials and turtle watchers have an early morning stroll during which they collect the eggs laid on the shore and take them back to hatcheries to safeguard them from predators.
Later the hatchlings are taken to the sea, either in the early morning or in the evening, and released in this stunning spectacle of nature.
