The shocking moment a motorbike crashes into a cyclist in hit-and-run
This is the shocking moment a motorbike collided at speed with a teenage boy on a bicycle, before speeding away.
Fourteen-year-old Worawut Chuthaisong was on his bicycle, waiting to cross the street to pick up his mother's laundry in the early hours of Friday 19 July. But a speeding biker going the wrong way down the road smashed into the boy, before fleeing.
Bystanders rushed to help the young victim, who was taken to hospital, where he is now being looked after. It was said he was lucky to survive.
A local restaurant owner told police that the motorcyclist had stopped at their shop after the accident and that he and his friend - whom he recognised as someone who worked at a shop over the road - were both very drunk.
A police spokesman said: ''The motorcyclist will certainly be prosecuted for reckless driving causing injury to others, and the fine will be a maximum of 6,000 baht or imprisonment for three years.''
