Laos' Luang Prabang has been hit by flooding after heavy rains caused a river to burst its banks on Tuesday.

Homes were swamped after roads were flooded at around 8am local time.

Local resident Bouasavanh said: "It will take a long time and a lot of work to repair some the houses. Some of them were destroyed."

Torrential flooding this morning in Luang Prabang, Laos, where heavy rains caused a river to burst its banks swamping homes.

The downpours continued throughout the early hours of the morning before the deluge battered buildings causing flooded roads just after 8am local time.
