This is the amusing moment a man went fishing on a flooded road after Tropical Storm Podul brought heavy rain and flooding to Thailand today (30/08).

The lad donned his waterproof plastic poncho and flip flops before wading into the river which had formed on the road outside his home in in Roi Et, northern Thailand.

He then cast the lure into the deluge as cars drove by.

The northern parts of the country were lashed with downpours and strong winds as the category 3 tropical storm, made landfall over Dong Hoi, Vietnam, in the early hours of the morning before, moved to Laos and then Thailand.

It reached Roi-Et province this morning causing widespread flooding when rivers and streams in the area burst their banks following constant rain throughout the previous evening.

The Meteorological Department warned people not to travel by cars and should prepare for evacuation due to the rain that was expected to continue and worse.

Storm Podul is travelling at around 30 km/h and is expected to move to towards the capital Bangkok later today.

The heavy rains and strong winds are forecasting to affect many parts of Thailand. The department warned people to brace for heavy rains and possible flash floods.
