Curiosity almost led to deadly consequences for a man who went too close to capture an image of an injured leopard in eastern India.

The incident took place on Aug. 19 near Dalgaon Tea Estate, located in Falakata region of West Bengal state's Jalpaiguri district.

Visual showed the man, along with others, clicking pictures of an injured leopard who was hit by a speeding bike.

Things went smooth until the big cat suddenly sprang up, sending the filmers running helter-skelter for their lives.

The man, however, fell down.

He was heard crying for help, as people gave out mixed reactions- while some expressed concerns, others let out laughter.

Fortunately for the man, the injured leopard could not move too quickly, thus allowing the human to get up and run for safety.

Others were heard admonishing the man for his foolhardiness.

Reports said the accident happened at around 9:15 am while the leopard was crossing the road.

The biker could not control the vehicle on the slippery road and hit the animal.

Officials said the leopard sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.

In a similar incident, which took place earlier this month in central India's Madhya Pradesh state, a leopard died after being hit by a truck.
