A leopard that fell into a well in rural south India and was trapped overnight on January 3 was rescued after being tranquillised and dragged out in a net.

The leopard fell in at around 12:30am, but was only discovered at around 7:00am when villagers from Vythiri in Wayanad district, Kerala heard its cries.

Immediately informing the forest department, a team was assembled from various rescue services and the leopard was successfully rescued at around 11:45am.

The leopard was taken out alive and is suspected to have been injured from the fall.

A leopard who fell into well around 12:30 AM after midnight on 3rd of January was rescued after hour of long effort, some villagers around 7 in morning heard noise coming out from a well in Vythiri are in Wayanad , they saw a leopard fell in well. Villagers informed Police and forest department . Fire force personnel, forest guards and local residents were engaged in the efforts to lift the leopard from the deep well. The leopard was given a shot of tranquiliser before taking it out. The leopard was rescued around 11:45 AM . The leopard was taken out alive and is suspected to have been injured from the fall . large crowd was there at the area to watch the leopard being rescued.
