At least two people were killed and five were injured in a building collapse incident in western India.

The incident took place at Bhiwandi city near Maharashtra state's capital city Mumbai on Aug. 24.

Frightening visual shows the four-storey building coming crashing down on the ground. People can be heard shouting to vacate the area.

Rescuers of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are at the site and looking for survivors amid the concrete debris of the building that was built eight years ago.
Many people are still feared to be trapped under the debris.

Officials said that the municipal authorities had evacuated 22 families on Aug. 23 after several cracks were seen in the building. However, some people went inside the building to collect their belongings. That was when it collapsed, trapping them, officials stated.

Authorities said that it was an eight-year-old building and was constructed illegally, adding a probe would be initiated.
