'Love knows no borders' as American teacher weds Indian weaver after seven-month romance
"Love knows no boundaries, it crosses all borders," - this cliche phrase came true in the case of this odd couple-US woman Emily Wollin and Indian origin-Pawan Kumar.
Both of them befriended on Facebook about seven months ago and tied the knot on Aug. 25 in northern India.
Emily, a former teaching assistant at the University of North Dakota in the United States met Pawan, hailing from Amritsar city in Punjab state.
Emily wore a traditional Indian bridal dress and got married according to Punjabi traditions.
With bridal mehndi (the practice of making designs on someone's hands with henna, a reddish-brown dye) on her hands, forearms, feet and legs, Emily was also wearing the chuda (traditional Punjabi bangles) and a pink, embroidered suit for the wedding ceremony.
Emily said that she was impressed by Pawan's looks and his helpful nature.
She stated that she likes Punjabi culture and would love to stay in India.
Pawan's parents, who also had a love marriage, said that they are pleased with their son's decision and liked their daughter-in-law.
In a similar incident, a Bolivian woman tied the knot with an Indian man from Madhya Pradesh on March 21.
