Teenage girl lives 'mermaid-like' existence in India reading, sleeping and eating in water
A 16-year-old girl named Arunima in south India has a unique talent, as she can float in a river for hours, being able to eat, drink, read and even sleep in the water.
Arunima who hails from Kuppadithara in Waynad district, Kerala state, commented in an interview that: "I grew up playing in this river. Every day we'd spend our free time here with family.
"Once my uncle told me to try floating - it was easy for me to do it without any training so I can float for as long as I wish.
"When I am tense because of exams or such occasions, I do it to relax."
Arunima says she has enjoyed floating for leisure for the last 11 years, and she hopes to one day set a world record for longest time spent afloat.
