A magnitude 6.5 earthquake struck the southern Philippines on Thursday (October 31) leaving at least five killed and widespread damage.

The strong earthquake, the second in three days, struck just after 8am local time on the island of Mindanao in the south of the country, the same place affected by Tuesday's earthquake.

Footage filmed in Kidapawan showed a hotel partially collapsed.

The earthquake also caused a condominium block in Davao City to crack and crumble, leaving residents trapped inside.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said they already ordered a possible rescue operation, but the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said no one was trapped in the hotel.

Footage shows a building which crumbled after a second earthquake in three days hit the Philippines the Philippines this morning.

The 6.5 magnitude quake struck just after 8am local time on the island of Mindanao in the south of the country, the same place affected on Tuesday when seven people were killed.

In the video, the building with several apartments inside was seen near to close to collapse after the quake hit the town of Tulunan, Cotabato.

Also this morning, the earthquake caused a condominium block in Davao City to crack and crumble, leaving residents trapped inside.

Officials said that at least 15 people across the region were injured.

Kidapawan City Mayor Joseph Evangelista said they already ordered a possible rescue, but the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said no persons were trapped in the hotel.
