A Stork, a Fish, and a Hungry Crocodile
The spectacular Saddle-billed Stork (Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis) is listed as endangered in South Africa. This beautiful female Stork was attempting to swallow a dead fish that was far too big for it, while at the same time trying to evade a hungry Nile Crocodile that was trying to steal the fish from it! The Stork’s problems got even worse when a juvenile Stork flew in, wanting some of the fish too. The female Stork finally managed to evade the young Stork and the Crocodile, but continued to struggle to swallow her meal. She finally tore some flesh from the fish and swallowed it.
