This is the moment a baby elephant was born, making him the 90th elephant born at the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden in Chonburi, Thailand.

The twelve-year-old mother had been in her gestation period for almost two years before going into labour last Saturday (November 2) night.

The jumbo's feet were tied to the strong pole during the birth and the baby finally arrived healthy and well after several hours.

Staff on Monday (November 4) arranged a party to celebrate the birth of the 90th elephant at the park, where the animal was named Nam-Phu and blessed by Buddhist monks.

The garden president Kumphol Tunsajja said he was named Nam-Phu, which means fountain.

He said: "We named him Nam-Phubecause we wish him to live a long and happy life in the garden like the fountain's water that stretches into the sky."
