Residents found a 12-foot python hiding inside their home in the northeast Indian state of Assam, sending people into a panic until a snake-catcher arrived.

The incident took place on January 28 in a small city of Tezpur located in the state's Sonitpur district.

The python was found hiding under a raised stone platform, where the catcher was able to pull it out and show it off to the worried residents.

He then placed it in a cloth bag and took it away, later releasing it back into the forest some distance away from inhabited areas.

The rescuer quickly pulls the snake out and grabs a cloth bag to cover its head.

The residents are shocked and quickly back away when they realise that the snake is big fat python.

The rescuer easily lifts the 12-foot long snake and shows it to the amazement of terrified residents.

One brave resident quickly hands another cloth back to the snake catcher, who puts the animal inside. 

According to the reports, the snake was later released into the wild.
