A 13-year-old girl from east India is said to possess an extraordinarily special skill which allows her to read, draw and identify various objects despite being completely blindfolded.

Sonalisha Mohanta, a resident of Bankia village of the Keonjhar district in Odisha, can be seen performing the seemingly impossible feat, by reading a selection of books and identifying a cash note.

Mohanta claims to have been gifted with a 'third eye' and doesn’t need real eyesight to carry on her usual life. This talent is sometimes known in India as "Midbrain Activation", or super-sensory development, and is hotly debated for its validity.

Rupa Bhanu Mishra, Chief Medical Officer with PRM Medical College And Hospital said; “I am also surprised and taken aback by her extraordinary abilities, this is such a miracle which is beyond my imaginations. It should be investigated and researched upon which could help so many people who are actually blind.”

“This is one of the greatest challenges and surprising as to how is this even possible.”

Mohanta is reportedly a very gifted student at her school and rose to fame after riding a bicycle through heavy traffic with her eyes blindfolded.

Sonalisha Mohanta a resident of Bankia village of the Keonjhar district in Odisha, India studies in the 7th standard of the Adarsha Vidyalaya in her village.
He special skills have made her a local celebrity where she claims to possess a third eye that helps her see through her blinds.
While her eyes are perfectly normal she claims to have been gifted with a third eye and doesn’t need real eyesight to carry on her usual life.
Her learning approach is to read any kinds of books based on her ability to read, write decorating art and pronounce the exact object even when blinded by the cotton ribbon over her closed eyes.
The video shows her reading a book line to line without missing a line or word as her eyes remain tightly blindfolded under the cotton and a black ribbon.

Her Physics teacher Rakesh Hota said, “Sonalisha is a miracle girl. We are also surprised by her exceptional ability to perform tasks without even seeing it.”
“She is a top scholar in our school and has won many prizes and accolades. She owns an extraordinary quality in every segment.”
The girl comes from an economically backward society where her father is an employee with a private firm with meagre income and her mother is a homemaker but that has not stopped her from becoming a local celebrity in her state.
She rose to fame after riding a bicycle with her eyes blindfolded amidst heavy traffic.
Even if one of her senses remains blocked, she can perform “Midbrain Activation” also known as super-sensory development. It enables developing all our senses to an unimaginable extent.
She worked hard for several years before achieving this fete and sharpening her talented skills to practical working.
