A backpacker ignores coronavirus hygiene measures - putting his dirty socks on the chairs at an airport departure lounge.

The man, with long hair and a beard, was lounging on the seat with his feet rested across two others next to him.

He was filmed at the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, Thailand, on March 21, as strict covid-19 screening and hygiene measures were in place - including thermal checks, hand sanitiser and recommendations to wear face masks,

However, the young tourist seemed oblivious to that and placed his feet and dirty socks across chairs that others might have had to sit in later that day.

The filmer said: ''This made me so angry. People have to take as much personality responsibility as they can to help stop the spread of the virus. We need to behave responsibly and hygienically in public and at home.

''This guy had his stinking, dirty feet all over the chairs and in the air. Somebody will probably sit there later in the day. It's down right disgusting.''

Thailand has declared 411 Chinese coronavirus covid-19 cases as of March 21, which saw its biggest increase yet with 82 new infections reported by health officials.

The country has also introduced a de facto travel ban. Tourists will now need to show a medical certificate issued within 72 hours of boarding which proves they don't have the coronavirus in addition to coronavirus travel insurance - both of which are almost impossible to obtain. While Thai nationals must have a 'fit to fly' certificate issued by a doctor as well as a letter from their Embassy in order to board flights home.
