This is the amazing moment two king cobras mated in broad daylight in front of excited locals.

Retired teacher Khun Ad, 64, was out trimming her lawn when she saw the two 10ft long snakes in Chumphon, southern Thailand on Thursday (April 10) afternoon.

She was shocked at first but then realised that the deadly snakes meant no harm because they were busy mating in the grassy part of her lawn. Her neighbours came to watch the scene after she called them.

The pensioner said that she had already seen one of the two venomous serpents passing her lawn a couple of days earlier.

She said: "A few days ago, I saw the king cobra this big slither past my lawn but I did not call the rescue team to catch it as I thought it was harmless.

"Then when I was out trimming the grass I saw it again but this time it had a partner. I think there might be a snake nest nearby."

The pair of king cobras mated for around 30 minutes before they were done and disappeared into the undergrowth.

Thailand has more than 200 snake species. Around 40 of those are venomous but most do not pose a threat to people.
