Two miscreants from infamous 'underwear' gang raid house midnight, decamp gold worth $24K and $ 350 cash in central India
Police officials were left incompetent against a gang of organised criminal miscreants, notoriously known as "Chaddi Baniyan gang" who raided and looted a house in central India’s Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place in Petlawad city of Jhabua district on June 30.
The thieves managed to loot a vacant house belonging to the secretary of Advocate Union in Petlawad, Baldev Singh Rathore.
Chaddi Baniyan is a notorious group of people who roam around in innerwear late in the night as they pull off burglaries at several houses.
They are violent and often thrash the residents of the houses they break into, in worst cases even murder them.
Several reports of their activities have been reported across several states in India since 1987, yet they are hard to catch owing to the oil and mud that they cover their bodies in that acts as a lubricant.
They are often referred to be as nomads and migrate across cities working as labourers or begging while spotting and marking potential houses to rob.
The theft was captured on CCTVs where two gang members can be seen sneaking around the house trying to trespass the perimeter.
According to reports, Baldev was out of town to attend a family affair, which was taken as an advantage by the thieves.
They managed to loot 27,000 Rupees (USD 357) of cash, along with 349 grams of gold, an estimated worth of jewellery at least USD 13,229.
The next morning, neighbours saw the house door ajar and informed the owner, who instantly reported it to local police.
Several cases of looting by this gang have been reported in neighbouring colonies as well, posing a deliberate question to the routine night patrolling executed by local cops.
The police have registered a case against the duo and are on the lookout for the burglars.
Panic gripped the locals after they linked Chaddi Baniyan gang to the incident, some even believe they are back after a long period of disappearance.
