Former priest accuses South African Anglican Church of condoning rape

A former Anglican priest, Reverend June Dolley-Major, has accused the Anglican Church of South Africa of condoning rape.

Dolley-Major has accused the Archbishop of Cape Town, Thabo Makgoba, of not taking her complaint seriously and of condoning rape.In 2016 Dolley-Major went on a hunger strike to demand justice from the church.

Dolley-Major has now set up a tent outside the Archbishop's residence in Bishopscourt, where she plans to live while embarking on a hunger strike. She plans to end the hunger strike when Archbishop Makgoba meets her in person. While being interviewed, Archbishop Makgoba drove past her as he left his residence.
