Major rivers in northern India's Bihar are in spate and are flowing above the danger mark, flooding several villages in its vicinity.

The video visual came out of Jagiri tola of Gopalganj district on July 12.

The Bihar water resources department stated on July 18 that Bagmati river is flowing above the danger mark in several areas, similar to Kamla Balan river and the Mahananda.

Visuals from the scene show a man knee-deep in water narrating the plight of the villagers whose pucca houses are half-submerged in water.

According to the man, the district management had alerted the area of probable flood warnings beforehand.

However, the water level rose beyond everyone's expectations flooding the entire area.

The locals requested the local administration to provide them with temporary relief including food packets and tents to build their roofs again, however, they alleged that the district administration has turned a blind eye towards them.

The video also shows several rescue operation ongoing in the area to take the worst effected families to relief camps.

Food sacks at risk of being damaged by floodwater have been kept safe by placing them at elevated spots inside the swamped houses.

Disaster Management Additional Secretary Ramachandra stated two relief camps have been set up in Supaul and Gopalganj, housing over a thousand people, with several community kitchens in flood-hit areas, feeding over 11,000 people daily.

However, the locals deny the actions taken by the administration and urge the local officials to send them relief before the water level rises further.
