The Minoraharjo turtle conservation group releases hundreds of young turtles on the beach of Goa Cemara, Bantul City, Yogyakarta Province, Indonesia, Tuesday, August 18 2020.

Still in the atmosphere celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia 's independence, this turtle release event is themed with the release of independent hatchlings.

The Minoraharjo turtle conservation group and other visitors release the young turtles back into their habitat.

The young turtles also nimbly walked to the beach water.

The head of the turtle conservation group, Minoraharjo Suratijo, said that the release of the hatchlings was very appropriate because it coincided with the timing of the peni migration, from May to September.

In addition, the number of turtles laying eggs this year is also very large compared to previous years.

"Why there are so many eggs this year because of the closure of the coastal area from visitors due to coronavirus, thus making the beach deserted and the turtles free to lay eggs," he said.

So, residents of Goa Cemara do have activities to release turtles from the Minoraharjo turtle conservation group.
