Residents of several villages in the Indian state of Karnataka have developed a very easy way of catching huge fish.

Every year they wait for their local lake to overflow with floodwaters and then stand near the embankment and scoop up the fish which drop into their hands.

A video filmed on August 7 in HD Kote in the state of Karnataka, shows a group of villagers showing just how easy it is to put food on the table at this time of year.

A local resident Shiva Raju said: “People wait for this season every year. This year even corona could not stop them from gathering together to take the fish home.”

Residents of several villages near H D Kote in southern India wait for a local lake, Hebballa kere, to overflow with flood water every year.

Whenever the lake overflows they go and stand near the embankment to collect the fish that drops into their waiting hands along with the flood water.

A video filmed on August 7 shows a group of villagers frolicking in water and making an easy catch of the fish.
