Thousands of police officers in West Sumatra province, Indonesia are being tested for COVID-19.

The mass swab-testing started on Monday (August 24) and will continue over the next few days.

The Head of West Sumatra Police, Senior Commissioner Sucipto said: "This mass swab-testing was organised to prevent police forces from spreading the coronavirus in their environment, as well as in the community."

Thousands of Police Personnel in Indonesia Take the Covid-19 Swab Test
The Regional Police (Polda) of West Sumatra Province, held a covid-19 swab test for thousands of personnel. The swab test was carried out in anticipation of the spread of the corona virus.
The Swab test took place Monday, August 24, 2020 in the morning at the West Sumatra Regional Police headquarters, which was attended by personnel from the Sabhara work unit, investigators and criminals, as well as the traffic unit. The swab test was carried out by the West Sumatra Police Medical and Health Sector (Biddokkes).
According to the Head of West Sumatra Police Biddokkes, Sr. Comr. Sucipto, this mass swab test is an active role and an effort to move the police quickly to break the chain of spreading the corona virus in their environment, as well as in the community.
The Swab test is planned to take place in a few days, which will be attended by thousands of West Sumatra Police personnel. Apart from the West Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters, swab tests were also held in all Police Resorts (Polres) in West Sumatra.
Previously, as many as 12 personnel and one civil servant at the Padang Pariaman Police, and two personnel at the Pariaman Police, West Sumatra, were confirmed positive for Covid-19.
