The city of Bukittinggi, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia is one of hundreds of regions in Indonesia holding regional head elections which are currently entering the registration stage. One of the candidates for mayor of Bukittinggi who registered is Erman Safar, who is paired with Marfendi. Even though the Covid-19 Pandemic has not ended in Indonesia, the two of them came to the City General Election Commission using buggies and were paraded by thousands of people. Police officers who oversee the registration process who see the group ignoring the Covid-19 health protocol always remind the group of supporters to implement health protocols while maintaining distance, wearing masks and using hand sanitizers.
