Authorities have blown up a dilapidated water tank using explosives in central India’s Madhya Pradesh. Around 5kg (11lbs) of ammunition was secured around the pillars of the tank for the demolition.

The demolition was carried out by municipal corporation, district administration and local police on August 28 at the state capital Bhopal’s Jawahar Chowk as part of a campaign to turn the city into a smart city.

A video from the spot shows the 50-year-old tank that has a capacity of 10,000 litre falling to the ground leaving behind a massive cloud of dust.

A team of officials from the municipal corporation, district administration and local police officers evacuated the surrounding area before the demolition was carried out.

The entire operation was monitored by CEO of Bhopal Smart City.
