A Green Iguana (Iguana iguana) is rescued from near a landing airstrip in the Las Vegas private state in the municipality of Livingston, in the Izabal department, in Guatemala. The reptile, which was found in a road to the airstrip, was caught by Snake Expert, Nicolas Pelayes, who works for the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) “Born to be Wild Guatemala” (BTBWGT) and Animal Conservation Guatemala (FAE), two initiatives that captures and rescues, heals, nurtures and rehabilitates, to finally release wild animals back into their habitats. This initiative also educates local people on the importance of protecting and preserving wildlife in the Central American country. The iguana, a threatened animal of various sizes also known as the American iguana, is a large, arboreal, mostly herbivorous species of lizard, and was released on a forest and brush area of the same state in the Guatemalan Caribbean, after a medical evaluation to determine its condition and health, showed no anomalies, injuries or diseases.
