Heavy rain caused landslides in the Philippines on Monday (September 14).

Motorists were stranded when mud and rocks toppled onto the road in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat, during a storm.

Biker Joyce Patron Andres Sunga said she planned to have a short ride while enjoying her day off but she did not expect to stuck in the area for almost two hours.

She said: "There was no announcement that there would be heavy rain so I continued my plan, fortunately, I got home safely even though it took a while.

More than 100 families were evacuated from the area after strong wind and rain damaged 60 houses.

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia, such as Thailand and Malaysia, are currently at the peak of the annual monsoon rainy season with regular tropical storms and flash floods.
