A taxi driver and five passengers escaped from a burning car while driving home from a university.

Three fire trucks rushed to stop the blaze that was burning the cab in Samut Prakan, central Thailand, on October 1.

Chauffeur Wanlop Teecoknoi, 55, had collected five passengers from Huachiew Chalermprakiet University and was taking them Wat Luang Pho temple when he noticed smoke from the bonnet.

Wanlop stopped the taxi as the fire had spread across the vehicle. He evacuated all the passengers then called the emergency services.

Firefighters spent more than fifteen minutes battling the blaze, which destroyed the entire taxi.

The driver said: "The car had only recently had a radiator changed. There's no clear reason why this happened.''
