Kind locals help stranded riders by giving them a lift in bamboo rafts to cross a flooded road.

Edwin Maranan was one of the stranded locals at a village in Batangas province, the Philippines on October 20 during tropical storm Saudel, also known as Pepito.

He said: "I queued for the bamboo raft ride. We would have waited for several hours if the locals did not help us with their makeshift ferry."

A kind fisherman lent them the raft after noticing the riders were starting to build up on the other side of the road.
The riders gave the fisherman and his neighbours some food and money to thank them for their help since they were affected by the flood.

Tropical storm Saudel, known locally as Pepito, hit 23 provinces in the northern and central Philippines.

Countries surrounding the West Philippine Sea such as Vietnam, Hong Kong, and China are on alert as the severe tropical storm follows that path.

Heavy rains this month have caused floods and landslides in central Vietnam and western Cambodia, forcing tens of thousands of people from their homes.
