A woman was shocked after waking up to a deadly 3ft-long cobra hissing inside her bedroom at night.

Noi, 45, was startled after hearing a thin but sharp hissing sound under her bed in Nakhon Si Thammarat, southern Thailand on October 26.

She peeked under the bed and saw the cobra slithering which tried to lunge at her violently.

The terrified woman slowly stood up and sprinted out of the room to escape the venomous reptile.

She told her family about it and called the animal rescuers for help to remove the snake from the property.

Noi said: "I was resting when I heard a strange sound so I looked for it. I was shocked and nearly bitten by the cobra."

The rescuers arrived and spent almost half an hour searching for the cobra while the family members waited outside. It was eventually captured it using a catching rod.

The rescue volunteers said the snake might be looking for food in the house and wandered inside the bedroom.

They placed the reptile in a sack and left with it to release it in the wild later.
