Two men got injured in an open-firing incident over a land dispute in southern India's Tamil Nadu on the morning of November 16. The incident took place in the Palani region of the Dindigul district.

CCTV footage witnessing the conflict features a residential area in the Palani region. Two parties engage in a quarrel while one of them takes out his revolver and starts open-firing in the middle of the street. The victim's family rushes to take cover. The man opens three rounds in total and runs off only after the victim hurls rocks at him.

The man with the revolver, identified as Natarajan, is the owner of the Valluvar Theatre and had a land dispute with Ilangovan, a farmer in Akkaraipatti village, over a residential spot in the area.

The two had approached the court a few years ago, where judgment favored Ilangovan. Following that, he cleared the land to start the process of construction. It is then that Natarajan picked up a heated argument with him which ended up in shots being fired.

Two of Ilangovan's relatives were injured in the incident. One suffered an injury on his waist while the other in his lower abdomen area. The casualties were rushed to the hospital and are under medical supervision. According to the reports the two were out of danger.

The police arrested Natarajan and seized his weapon, while further probe is underway.
