A mixer truck was swallowed by a sinkhole that opened up on a road in southern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province on December 4, shows the trunk of a mixer truck stuck in a sinkhole after the road suddenly collapsed under the vehicle.

Two cranes were seen lifting the truck up from the 2-metre-diametre sinkhole.

According to the truck driver, the back of the vehicle suddenly fell into a sinkhole that opened up under it when it was transporting cement on a road.

The driver in the cabin was then lifted up 3 metres into the air and jumped off the truck to escape.

Fortunately, no one was injured. The traffic is back to normal and the sinkhole is going to be filled up.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
