An innovative young man in Sivasagar in Assam state, north-eastern India, has found a novel way to shelter stray dogs -- old TV sets.

Life is tough for street animals. Keeping this in mind, Abhijit Dowarah started using the shells of dumped old-style TV sets to house dogs he found.

Video showed him taking apart the large old televisions, after which he would paint them in brighter colours, ready to be new homes for canines.

Stray animals specially dogs face harsh time during winter days and some time it become very difficult for them to survive . Keeping this in mind one innovative youth named Abhijit Dowarah from Assam’ Sivasagar came up with a out of the box idea to build a street homes for street dogs .
Abhijit used his innovation skills and built cute kennels for the street dogs from discarded television sets. Abhijit Says "I noticed the street dogs from many days. They suffers a lot when it rains, they don't have any specific place to sleep. Also, some of them are killed by running vehicles. One day I thought to myself that if I build tiny houses for these street dogs, it will be a great relief."
Dowarah adds , old television sets usually are discarded and are of no use once the family ends up buying LCD sets. He decided to look for more such TV sets and use them for making house for dogs. He remove the inner parts of tv sets and paints it to give a housy look.He named the kennels as "BAATOR GHOR", which means street home for the dogs.
Abhijit further adds - if I place those frames in the street just like that, then people will misunderstand them as waste materials. So I came up with the idea of painting these boxes. I basically used two colours - YELLOW(to make it visible from a long distance) and GREEN(to give it a tint of nature).
Now, how would the dogs know that these homes were made for them? I experimented with the idea of placing some parts of the clothes over which dogs of my own home sleeps just so that the street dogs can get the smell and come towards these clothes. I observed for a few days and the experiment turned out to be a success. I was more than happy!!
For the dogs to drink water, I made a small container in such a way that it prevents tree leaves from falling in it so that the dogs can drink pure water. The container also facilitates collection of rain water
Dowarah reportedly is known as an 'innovator' in his area and has often devised such ingenious ways to turn waste into art or such meaningful items out of it.
